Swim briefs care

Post by Thongwearer »

For you guys who swim laps, how often do you wash your swim briefs or swim thongs? Do you hand wash, machine wash? Hang to dry ?

I usually rinse them out well in the gym shower after my swim workouts. If I've been swimming in open water I will hand wash with a soap bar and rinse them out in the sink. I never put swim suits in a machine with detergent. I think that can really damage the fabric and wear them out prematurely. And always hang dry them.

Ok good - I basically do the same but rarely do open water swims except for races.

I just felt wrong not truly washing them so was curious about others practices.

After a swim I do the same, wash then with the soap on hand in the shower and let them air dry. It doesn’t matter if I am swimming laps in a pool or swimming in open water, my swimwear never goes in a machine.

I do the same swimmer 78...never in the washing mashine... after the pool i hand wash the brief.
As for the thong, well after i am back home from the beach i just wash it with water, and once per week i wash it with soap.

My only swim briefs were bought from cheapundies.com, the pool boy brand - for $9.99 each. So they get tossed in the washing machine on cold water, gentle cycle, with tide - - then hung to air dry. They've lasted at least one year and probably a dozen or more washings. Now if I had spent big money on a suit, then yes I'd probably try to take better care of the garment.

I rinse mine well, squeeze (but not twist) then hang to dry. Never go in the washing machine unless worn on the beach

I also rinse well right after I swim. Then after a few wears I hand wash with a swimwear cleaner.

I have a shower wearing them at the local pool as it’s a communal shower area, when I get home a rinse in cold water and drip dry.

I hand wash my swim thongs and thong underwear. Then, when it is laundry time, I put all of my thongs in a mesh bag and I use the delicate cycle of my washer. I never put my thongs in the dryer, and I let them air dry.
