I stopped wearing them exactly because they made the sides wider like briefs and changed the material, the current ones don't hold a candle to when I used to wear them in the 2000s as 2010s

Dietz Henry and 2eros v20 line are my go to

Sides are too wide for my tastes, prefer the Dietz Henry and discontinued Traxx lines have a good sized pouch as well, mainly use for working it, I tend to wear jammers when hanging at the beach amongst friends as I don't like the extra attention.
