Re: When did you know you liked bikinis?
Hi, new to the forum.
My mom was a single mom and had 3 older sisters, so we were poor. in order to save money, was handed down things I can wear. I had to wear girl panties briefs since she buys it in packs at the flea market. As a kid, I didnt know better because no one really care, they are neutral color and it fitted fine.
When I got a little older, my mom buys me lower cut/bikini briefs style underwear at the flea market because she tells me it willhold my "jewels" in place when growing up during my teenage years.
Thats how I started and liking wearing lower cut briefs bikini underwear and still wearing it now.

Welcome to the forum, and thank you for taking the time to explain how you came to wear bikini underwear. Your story highlights several points that are relevant today i.e wearing hand me down clothing and men wearing women's underwear.likelynotnow wrote: Thu Dec 09, 2021 11:09 pm Hi, new to the forum.

Today we are bombarded with warnings about the damage "fast fashion" is doing to the environment and how we should be more responsible about what we wear and also the potential lifespan of the products we buy. Second hand shops and charity shops have never seemed busier as more and more people turn to them to find a bargain or a style that has suddenly become fashionable again. Thankfully there is no stigma attached to the wearing of other people's hand me downs which I imagine wasn't always the case. Back in the 60's I had a family that lived in the row behind me who we would call "well to do" and occasionally I would receive smart cardigans or jackets that their youngest son had outgrown. We were by no means a poor family, but we couldn't have bought these brands new and I wasn't ashamed to wear what I was given. Today, I have lots of nieces and nephews who inherit clothing from their older cousins that have been well cared for and rarely worn before being outgrown and passed down.
Your experience as a youngster of being given "girl panty briefs" to wear could have been a problem, but in your case it didn't seem to matter and the neutral colours probably helped you avoid standing out from your peers. I know in my teenage years, men's bikini briefs were similar to women's bikini bottoms(hence the name), but as long as they weren't overtly feminine with frills and lace, they could be worn with confidence by men without fear of condemnation.
Can I ask what decade you were born and where you are from?
Hope you will enjoy reading the posts and comments from the followers who share your passion for bikinis etc.

I bet you got a lot of ribbing at school from your chummies in the locker room. Even though they make girls panties in plain white, I have never seen any that don't have the effeminate lacy ruffles on the waistband and leg openings. Girl's panties, even when they are plain white briefs, are still obviously girl's panties!TANGA TANGA wrote: Fri Dec 10, 2021 4:19 amWelcome to the forum, and thank you for taking the time to explain how you came to wear bikini underwear. Re: When did you know you liked bikinis?
When I was a teen I tried squeezing into a bikini I had outgrown, and got quite a thrill. I could look as flat as a girl, even when I was aroused. After that, I wore downsized bikinis and underwear, the briefer the better. This was back when nylon did not stretch much, it could leave lines on my legs. As time went on, I got a Club Med bikini, any French bikini is skimpy. Recently I could order skimpy flat-front bikinis from AQUX (Japan) and Mategear (Korea), but they are moving to pouch suits for the international shoppers. I am an old Bear now, and never heard any complaints over the years.
Re: When did you know you liked bikinis?
I was at Wal-Mart last summer and as usual, I go to the men's underwear section to see if they have anything new. There was this boy there... maybe 10 years old just standing there gazing at the selection of men's bikini and string bikini underwear. It made me think back to when I was his age and did the same thing, wondering how it must feel to wear skimpy bikinis and thongs and imagining how I would look wearing them and looking forward to the day when I was old enough to buy them and wear them. I think that's what first caught my interest in bikini underwear, that and my cousin who was 3 years older than me already wore bikini briefs. He was the first male I ever knew that wore bikini underwear. Until then, I never knew bikini underwear for men even existed, or that males could wear such underwear!

Re: When did you know you liked bikinis?
The beginning of the journey . . . for me, VERY early. Story is around when I was 4 I had a favorite pair of briefs, blue middle with gray sides. Material was cool to the touch not scratchy cotton, fit full coverage but with thin material. When I was 6, they somehow were still in my drawer though I remember they were eyed to be on the way out per Momma Kinis words ha! I talked my way to keep them till the threads actually ripped and finished.
I had grown a bit and they fit and were pretty much like a bikini, they were tight now. I liked that! I assume I felt better with that pair than the generic loose briefs I might've had back then. I remember occasionally watching TV; movies with beach scenes and these ladies with red bikinis and such, looking great on their lower torso and just in general. Think I made that association then, wanting to look and feel good myself, and thus began my sexy underwear trek which continues to now at 22!
Fun note, losing that one bikini never left my mind, for about maybe 4 years till I was 10 I would shyly beat around the bush a bit and ask my mom about those briefs. Till I finally really asked for some and I got my first official bikinis, a Walmart Jockey men's bikini pack!

Re: When did you know you liked bikinis?
I grew up wearing typical boys underwear, style y front and later on the white bikinis. When I was 18-19, I discovered the String bikini (Sloggi Tanga / DIM tanga) and never wore any other style since then. Nowadays, I m kinda Kiniki addicted for their tanga styles. I would like to go towards thongs also, but I dont know how to explain to my wife (I know she dislikes thongs on men).
I also buy a lot of string-bikinis and string-thongs for my wife (VS, Lounge, ...). She has grown to like these and appreciates the comfort that comes with the bikinis.

Re: When did you know you liked bikinis?
Has she seen guys in thongs to know she really dislikes them or just following society norms on thongs for men? If she appreciates the comfort then why can't you give a thong a try so you can appreciate the comfort of a good fitting thong too. Guess you should start by telling her you'd like to try a thong and see where it goes from there or just buy one to try and surprise her wearing it and see what she says.fiput01 wrote: Mon Jun 13, 2022 8:58 am I grew up wearing typical boys underwear, style y front and later on the white bikinis. Re: When did you know you liked bikinis?
I agree with Nate that if your wife appreciates how comfortable a thong can be, then there is no reason why you can't do the same. Whenever I read comments like yours about wanting to wear a thong but being apprehensive about your other half's reaction, it raises a red flag. Every relationship involves compromise, but if one party is controlling to the point of dictating what the other can or can't wear, then that is not healthy. We often read of women who have controlling partners that tell them how to wear their hair, how to dress, who they can see etc, and the advice given is that they should get away as fast as they can. I'm not suggesting for one minute that you should take such drastic action over the potential wearing of a thong, but I do wonder if there are other areas where you are restricted? Are you a keen golfer, but your wife hates the sport so you rarely play? Do you like growing a beard, but your wife likes you clean shaven? By all means compromise about holiday destinations or the colour scheme in your kitchen etc, but don't let anyone dictate what you can wear on your body. Get out there and start thonging!!!tbdrawer wrote: Wed Jun 29, 2022 5:28 pmHas she seen guys in thongs to know she really dislikes them or just following society norms on thongs for men? Re: When did you know you liked bikinis?
So sick of the double standards in women, they would not put up with a man dictating how they dress or look, but they will be the first ones that demand that we switch back to tighty-whities or boxer briefs. I could not imagine the reaction I would get if brought home a 12-pack of white, cotton granny panties and told my wife that, "You're getting rid of those thongs, g-strings and bikinis, because I don't like them and I want you to wear full-cut briefs from now on!"
