I always wear either a very thin ice silk thong or a g string under my shorts as I train at CrossFit.
Most of my shorts are light colours and quite thin, so thongs can show though, but all the girls in our CrossFit gym wear thongs and you can clearly see them, so why shouldn’t I?
If I’m worried, I can wear a nude coloured thong that doesn’t show except for the outline, but I’m really not worried what people think, I’m happy in my body and what I wear, I really couldn’t care less what others think, so long as I’m happy in my skin and I don’t push it in others faces, no one else should care either.

Old topic, but I was having a read...

As I wear thongs exclusively for underwear, I therefore wear them under whatever sporting gear I have on.
As many of you mention, they are great for support and freedom of movement.

Water sports are different.
I swim laps each morning, and wear briefs. I am usually (always, as far as I remember) wearing the smallest ones at any pool. I will swim laps in a thong occasionally, which is usually when I travel for work. There are ocean baths near me, and I do laps in a thong there more often than in briefs. It's always crowded with females in thongs/G-strings as it's a huge trend in Australia these days.
I also surf, and when the opportunity presents (when uncrowded and warm enough) I will surf in a thong. I surf in briefs quite a bit. When I wear a wetsuit, I don't wear anything under it.
Most of my paddleboarding is done in a thong. It's a wonderful way to get a great tan!
Beach and recreational swimming is always in a thong.

I recently started swimming laps at my local municipal pool. On my first visit, I checked with one of the lifeguards to see if wearing a thong was allowed. Since they had no issue with it, I confidently removed my swim shorts and swam my laps in a thong.

I've been swimming at the same pool for the past month, and so far, no one has complained about my choice of swimwear. I’m considering broadening my horizons and wearing thongs at other pools as well.

[personal experience. i have been running regularly for years now and i do cycling. sport is the reason why i chose to wear thongs. i think the choice of thong is better than briefs and boxers. not only does the thong give me more freedom of movement but it does not give me problems with sweating. i think that many men should try wearing it for sporting reasons and they would realize how much the thong is better than traditional underwear.
