So I just added to the litany of instances where this happened to me; Saturday night, an old friend of mine came over...I hadn't seen her in a couple of years as she moved far away but she was visiting family. She's happily married, etc., so it was just a really fun convo, with lots of booze. I crashed somewhere around 2 or 230 in the morning and was awakened by an alarm -- I ran downstairs and realized that it wasn't the burglar alarm, but a smoke alarm. So I was running all over the house, unpluggign smoke alarms, etc, and this damn thing is BEEP BEEP BEEP BEEP! So just as I realized it was the carbon monoxide detector, my friend appears in the hallway, rubbing her eyes. And there I am, wearing a gray Kiniki Alex tanga and a short green T-shirt. I froze -- I had actually thought she had left but was so foggy I didn't even think to check. So there's me, like that, and her, pretty much fully dressed and I have this stupid awkward smile on my face as I am holding the beeping CO detector. She says: "well, I haven't seen that much of you for a very, very long time. Not too bad."

Mine involves swimwear and underwear.

As a money saver, we would hang out our laundry during the summer months. Being strictly a bikini underwear person, this underwear would also be on the line in view of anybody who happened to see our line.
During those years, too, I would lay out in the backyard in one of my bikini swimsuits (regular bikini, not a string bikini) - never in underwear.
One day my son came in and said, "One of the neighbor girls just asked me why you lay in the backyard in just your underwear." We both got a little chuckle over it.

I would imagine that with the soaring price of energy coupled with the damage they cause to the environment, tumble dryers might fall out of favour and people will return to hanging out their clothes on the washing line. I've never been shy about hanging my g-strings etc out in the garden and I do tend to cast an eye on other washing lines to see if there are any bikinis, briefs etc on display rather than the dreaded boxers. Not surprisingly I've had a few reactions to the contents of my washing line, some of which I've recalled on the main blog.
Last year I had to hire a local gardener to cut my grass due to my mower giving up the ghost.It was a hot, sunny day and I had my washing out. I was sunbathing when he arrived, and when he saw my g-strings all he said was "posing pouches" and that he was used to seeing underwear hanging up while he was tending someone's garden. The only time he was slightly taken aback was when I was helping him store his mower in my hut for the following day and he noticed my bare butt(I was wearing a C-string).lol

Depending on your son's age, I'm wondering if seeing his Father wearing a bikini to sunbathe in the backyard inspired him to do likewise, or did he go the opposite way towards dork shorts?

I would be very hesitant about hanging my wash out to dry. For one thing, there's always the risk of have a creepy neighbor stealing your underwear. another reason is that (in my case) my neighbor mows his lawn more than average (almost every day) and my skimpies would be covered in grass clippings. My bathroom is very big, actually a converted bedroom, so I have enough room to string up a line in my bathroom to hang-dry my skimpies. But like T, I don't care if my neighbors see my thongs and string bikinis.

Tanga Tanga
He was always briefs until boxers became a fad. This was many years ago, but I know he is still a boxer's fan. I think in his generation it is still a 'thing' - boxers or boxerbriefs.

I guess for many of the younger generation it's a case of wearing what's available in the shops and what your group of mates might wear too.Takes a lot of courage to go against the flow especially when you're young and want to fit in. I'd be interested to know when boxers became the "norm" and why? I wonder if the emergence of a certain genre of music(rap) had anything to do with it where the tendency was to wear your jeans slung so low that your butt was totally exposed? Boxers and dull grey trunks seemed to be what the vast majority wore, and a bikini or thong was non existent. One can only hope that briefs etc will make a comeback with the youth of today, but I won't hold my breath.

When I was a senior in high school (1989) I was in the locker room changing back into my clothes and one of my friends was sitting next to me. When I pulled off my gym shorts, revealing my red & black stripe low rise brief, he blurted out, "OMG, you're wearing bikini underwear!"
Fortunately for me, the rest of the students were down at the far end of the locker room and didn't hear him.

One of my favourite memories of tanning:
My apartment complex had no pool, but had a nice patio area. Beautiful day, so I decided to lay out and work on my tan. My suit for that day was a string bikini with a nice rattlesnake print. Looking back, I guess it was pretty skimpy.
My landlord walked by, and without missing a step he said, "I'm going to have to reduce your rent so you can afford the rest of that suit."
