What is acceptable to wear in different situations ?

I am interested in what the members of the board consider is acceptable for a MAN to wear in these different situations ... please give your score out of 10 where 10 is fully acceptable to being not appropriate at all . Here is my personal scoring .

For a quiet beach I would rate these all as 10

I think this is essentially an exercise asking how comfortable one is with wearing what they like.

I would say 10 for all. It depends on what I feel like on a given day, but most days I would not have an issue with a thong in any situation.

I would think that if it's a public pool where children will be present, that thongs would be off limits, maybe even a string bikini-style swimsuit. A bikini cut swim brief would be acceptable, as long as it's a more moderate cut. But then, it also depends where you are, America is dodgy when it comes to the type of swimsuit you want to wear... some cities have morality laws where you could actually be arrested for wearing anything other than swim trunks... yet women get to wear the skimpiest bikinis to any beach or public pool?!?

For the most part I would be comfortable wearing a thong or very tiny bikini in all situations and places. I’ve met some wonderful friends at the beach while wearing a thong. A couple of the women had younger children and no one seemed to have any concerns with my swimwear other than the women finding a man wearing thong swimwear quite sexy, or maybe is was the confidence I had. There are only a few exceptions where I would not be at a 10. These exceptions are where thongs are prohibited/illegal or where the atmosphere/community is quite conservative. For example the gym I use does not allow thong swimwear. So, I wear a small Brazilian cut bikini brief to swim laps.

I too usually bring more suits to the beach than I will likely have opportunity to wear. Speedo Solar used to be my go to when I felt comfortable wearing a bikini at the beach. On recent trips to Hawaii and Italy I felt comfortable and not out of place wearing even skimpier bikinis. The only time I felt comfortable wearing a thong swimsuit in public was on a remote island off the gulf coast of Florida. My wife and I were dropped off by a charter boat and had the island to ourselves to explore and collect shells and sea urchins for a couple of hours. It was incredibly freeing and sensual to wear a thong with no one to judge me.

My wife and I plan to travel to France this Summer, in part to La Baule Escoublac. I will bring a variety of briefs and bikinis and plan to do my best to fit in to what at least some guys are wearing. These will undoubtedly include some mini briefs and micro bikinis from French brand Hom. My wife and I love to walk beaches for hours. We have never been to this part of France, but are really looking forward to this trip.

Hard to put numbers to this topic because what might start out as a 10 could quite easily descend rapidly due to circumstances beyond your control. Imagine you had found a deserted beach and had stripped down to a thong. Sounds like a perfect 10. However, your peace and quiet is soon shattered when a group of rowdy guys in their late teens appear over the dunes and set up camp close enough for you to hear their increasingly drunken conversations. Your perfect 10 has just gone through the floor.
I also think you have to take into account the country you are in and what their local laws permit and what is deemed inappropriate or in some cases, illegal. You would hope that a regular speedo would be acceptable in any of the situations that Aberman has listed, but sadly that is not always the case.

An example of how a 10 can quickly plummet happened to me a few years ago while on holiday in Sicily. I think I posted this experience on the main blog, but for the purposes of this topic I'll repeat it. Myself and another guy were sunbathing naked in the unofficial nudist zone when an elderly couple and their two adult daughters appeared from the rocks above. Even though the father must have seen us first and had the opportunity to turn away, he and his wife came right by us and set up their things literally a few metres behind our heads, while their daughters, who didn't see us, had taken another route to some rocks a little further away. To cut a long story short, the father began chatting in Italian to the guy I was with and I understood enough of the conversation to realise he was complaining that we were both naked. My companion put his speedos back on, but I was raging seeing as we were there first and the father could easily have gone elsewhere if he was offended by our nudity. What made things worse was when I turned around and saw his wife was wearing a thong bikini and his butt crack was showing over his saggy bikini and one of his daughters was also in a thong bikini. My companion eventually got dressed and left, but I held my ground and was glad when said family packed up and left.

Tanga Tanga: three words for you! WAY TO GO! You had the nerve, self-confidence, and self -assurance to take on a blatant case of hypocrisy, and YOU WON! Yes, you were there first, and you were doing nothing wrong, nor was your friend. Human nature being what it is, cowards generally crumble when confronted in such situations. And, come to think of it, the three of them were "nearly-nude" anyway! DUH!

In much the same vein have any of you been asked to change your swimwear because it is too brief ? I tend to west small bikinis in pools , probably the smallest in the uk was a joe Snyder clip bikini , reduced back but definitely not a thong . In a hotel pool I wore a Snyder thong in Spain . I have never had a negative reaction but wondered if others had been challenged ?

I wear swim bikinis almost everywhere except for the pool at my godfathers house, he even takes issues with square cut. But this is someone who doesn't go in his pool without a shirt lol.. But it's his house and his rules so square cut is the most I'll wear. Also pool parties with Co workers I'll tend to wear square cut just because I don't want the attention and want to sun bathe and drink in peace with little to no conversation.

Sure that’s sensible , I don’t go in for small swimwear around friends and family members other than just a normal speedo … it’s rather different for me in an environment where there are strangers or small swimwear enthusiasts
