Open the link below and you'll see what I mean. Straight men who consider trying men's bikini and thong underwear would be more likely to do so if, when they open advertisements, they're not bombarded with all kinds of gay overtones & scenarios! And a wife or girlfriend who wants to introduce her man to wearing sexy underwear for her delight and pleasure wouldn't be put off from buying sexy undies for him to wear for her. TBH, I don't even think gay men care if the advertised product depicts a gay orgy showing oily men intertwined in a pile of lust. As a man, I am interested in the styles and even if I never have another wife or female love interest again I would still continue to wear bikinis and thongs, so the gay overtones are pretty much irrelevant. Try selling underwear, not a political or social statement and let the buyer make their own decision!

I'm glad someone else said it first. Your sexual preferences are nobody's business. Straight, gay, bi, whatever. Those ads go beyond "marketing".
Re: I wish they would stop doing this!
I read time ago a discussion in a gay forum. Among all underwear preferences, including "nothing", very little % of thongs , around 0%, and negative comments. Here we are maby straight seem.
So take your conclusions...

Precisely! They need to stop trying to sell thongs and bikinis as gaywear when it never has been!XM2212 wrote: Thu Mar 05, 2026 10:22 am I'm glad someone else said it first. Your sexual preferences are nobody's business. Straight, gay, bi, whatever. Those ads go beyond "marketing".

Also, the site you linked sells women’s clothes, men’s clothes, appliances, and more. But when I searched for men’s underwear, this is what I found:

So I’m not sure what you’re talking about. There’s even a pair that says “I love my wife.”
Gay men see advertising aimed at straight couples all the time. Just look at cologne ads or most mainstream marketing. Despite that, gay men still buy those products. Many online underwear companies are owned by gay men, so it shouldn’t be surprising if their advertising sometimes reflects that audience.
Also check out Ergowear, Joe Snyder, N2N, BodyAware, CK, Todd Sanfield, Mr. S Leather, Sukrew, MensUnderwearStore, and the list goes on. Heck, even XDress. Going through the underwear companies I buy from, I honestly have no idea what you’re talking about. I don’t see guys in orgies or intertwined in lust.
Okay, rant over.

This perceptional bias has been a significant factor in trying to bring my wife to a more enlightened understanding of why I like wearing thongs. The initial reaction was just that “I thought only gay guys wear them”, nobody “like you” chooses to wear them, “this seems really weird”. We’ve had a lot of conversation in the 1.5 years since I took the plunge and we are slowly making progress but I wish the perception were not so biased. The journey would have been more smooth if the initial reaction weren’t so slanted by the public perception. I hope for more public awareness and acceptance of straight guys expressing personal choice like women so freely enjoy with wearing conservative or proactive styles of their personal choosing. The double standard is so incredibly frustrating.
Re: I wish they would stop doing this!
During my mid 20's, I would shop at Frederick's of Hollywood for mens thongs because they were pretty much the only store selling them. Every time I went in there, the women working would always casually ask if I needed any assistance. They're most common question while I browsed their selection was if I was a stripper. I respectfully said no. Stigmas are so difficult to erase and society always fears or mocks something that doesn't align with their morals. I just want for all to accept thongs into normal apparel. There will always be extremists that push the envelope, but general wear needs to be considered "normal"
Re: I wish they would stop doing this!
The only way you can break that bias and perception is to stand up (i know it always isn't easy) and wear what you like. Good luck!JL Thong wrote: Wed Mar 11, 2026 1:04 pm This perceptional bias has been a significant factor in trying to bring my wife to a more enlightened understanding of why I like wearing thongs. I understand that completely. I always thought Frederick’s of Hollywood was pretty trashy for both men and women. In the 80s, you could buy thongs at JCP and Hudson’s. I know that for sure because I bought them. In the 90s, Target, Meijer, and Walmart all carried thongs as well, and that continued into the 2000s, when you could buy CK and 2(x)ist thongs in most department stores. Heck i even bought silk thongs (mansilk) in Hudsons and Macy's in the 00's. That was also when online retail exploded.
In all of the above, trust me, none of it was marketed explicitly to gay people any more than Marky Mark was for Boxer Briefs.
It isn’t the fault of gay people what other people think about different underwear choices. The problem is the people who make those judgments. The only way to change those judgments is to be yourself.
