When did kids discover your underwear
When did kids discover your underwear
I’d like to have a side conversation on Italians topic. What age did your kids learn you wear thongs. Or what age did you learn your dad (or mom) wear thongs? My son is 6, he’s sort of seen me in a thong but has no idea what it is. My daughter is 9 never seen me in a thong. Both have seen me in a pair of briefs. She’s helped a few times with laundry but never really noticed. I am not going to walk around my house in just a thong with my kids home. Nor do I want to it to seem strange dad wears non-conventional underwear. How do you normalize it when your wife doesn’t wear thongs.
Re: When did kids discover your underwear
My kids know that I wear thong underwear. While they probably have not seen me wearing it other than peeking above my waistband, they have seen it in the laundry, drying on the rack, etc. This has been since they were little kids. So, I don't think that we have ever discussed my underwear because they have always seen it as just Dad's underwear.

We have twin daughters that just turned 30. They knew I wore them when they were in their early teens. It’s always exciting on my birthday and Christmas to see what skimpy thongs and strings they get me!

I guess I come from the perspective of the kid. My dad never hid them or anything though he didn't exactly parade around in them either. I saw them in laundry or being put away. Occasionally if he got undressed in front of me I'd see them but he would cover up quickly. And I think the fact that he didn't make it a big deal lead to it not being a big deal.
I will say I'm not sure how to approach it with a daughter but I would just say treat it like any other kind of underwear. They might ask questions, they might not but its only weird if you make it weird.

Re: When did kids discover your underwear
I just do my best to act as if they are normal underwear. Both my kids (one of each) know I have underwear with no rear. Do they know they are called thongs I do not know. They really haven't commented much on them. Probably mentioned them more when they were younger than they do now. I think I've heard more from them on me wearing swim briefs! I don't try to hide it from them nor walk around the house in them. The most walking I may do is from the bathroom after a shower to the bedroom, since we do not have a master bathroom. I also sleep in them, so they may catch me in them if they wake up in the middle of the night or potentially in the morning. At times they've walked in the room when I'm changing too. Guess I have changed out of my swimsuit with my son in the changing room too, so my kids do get glimpses of them. It is all about just acting as if they are normal underwear, which they are. Just not mainstream for us guys. I feel if they're just use to you wearing the style that should normalize it for them. Oh that is just what Dad wears.
Re: When did kids discover your underwear
I wanted to try out thongs for years but held off a long time while our girls were young and consistently walked in on us when getting dressed or using the bathroom. We rarely close doors in our house and don’t hide from them when we are only in underwear. They are now all grown up and so took the plunge a couple years ago. They have never seen me in a thong and don’t plan on them knowing unless it’s completely accidental.

While I don't have any kids of my own, and my current wife doesn't have any, my ex-wife had 2 sons from a previous marriage, and the woman I dated after my divorce had a daughter.
My ex-wife's sons were 8 and 10 when she and I got together, and they were exposed to it immediately almost. The four of us took a trip to the beach about a month after we started dating. They giggled a little at first, but by the end of the day, they did not even bat an eye. She wore a one piece on this trip, but we bought her a bikini shortly thereafter, and then a smaller one, until I got her into a Malibu Strings g-string bikini eventually, which she'd wear when we were with her kids. And I'd still wear my thongs.
With the woman I dated after my divorce, she had an 11 year-old daughter, and I was apprehensive at first, and would wear a swim bikini when we were together the first couple of times, but with the moms encouragement, didn't take long for me to wear my thongs. Flash forward a couple months and they both move in with me, and both the mom and I would regularly walk around the house in just our thongs, it was completely normal for us. Her daughter would roll her eyes, but it was never an issue

I wear primarily thongs but also mix in some bikinis here and there. I don't necessarily hide my thong collection from my kids but I don't do anything to advertise it either. I don't get changed in front of them (probably wouldn't do it even if I was wearing boxer briefs) and I have a massive thong collection so I have a separate hamper for them. Then I was a bunch together so they're not a part of the regular laundry rotation. I'm not sure if they've seen them or not. My daughter did ask why I have some animal print leggings I sometime wear for Peloton rides but nothing related to underwear.
Re: When did kids discover your underwear
I guess my kids discovered my underwear as soon as they could notice it. I don't walk around the house in them. Since I normally sleep in my underwear, I may walk down the hall in them to the bathroom or after I shower back to the bedroom (really only a few feet). They've woken me enough times in the night too and I don't slip on shorts or pants until I get up in the morning. They've walked into the bedroom when I'm changing. I've changed in locker rooms at water parks with my son there. My wife's and my goal is to try to portray body positivity and try not to act shameful of our bodies. So my kids are well aware I have underwear with no rear and a strap that goes between the cheeks

Re: When did kids discover your underwear
My 16 year old daughter when she was about four or five years old, walking on me while I was using the bathroom. I just got up out of bed. I only sleep in my underwear and at the time I was wearing a purple Fruit of the Loom low rise men's bikini brief. She walked in she saw me standing there with my back to her while I was using the bathroom and all the sudden she starts laughing and she says out loud, "Daddy's wearing purple panties!"
I had to explain to her that I was not wearing panties, that these are underwear for men, and that men can wear this type of underwear too.
Another time was when I was sharing a duplex with a married couple and their bathroom was being retiled or remodeled at the time so they had to use my bathroom and we were trying to get ready for church so I had to change out of my shorts that I wear around the house into my blue jeans so the only place to do that was in my bedroom where my daughters were watching cartoons so I had to strip down to just my underwear (white bikini) and finish getting dressed. they really didn't notice because at the time they were distracted by the cartoons (I had a TV in my room) but I didn't turn around so they can see my front and my penis bulge I don't know if they would have been traumatized by that. I tried to be as discreet as possible.
