I only tried it a couple 3 times, just didn't work well for me. I had too much hair breakage, so the result was good but really not better than a good shave. Then the ingrowns started, and just keeping up with a shave a day, sometimes two, works much better.

The other thing is the waxing process is somewhat less than comfortable, and not repeatable for many weeks. The hair has to be long enough for the wax to grab. So the pay-off would have to be really good, which for me, it wasn't. I did not experiment with all the different types of wax. My wife has her waxing done professionally, and found that there are some that are much more comfortable than others.

Overall, waxing is a lot of trouble, and the results don't "stay" long enough for me. The daily shave is consistent, plus I shave things I would really rather not have hot wax on.

I once emailed a guy who makes porn with his wife and asked what he does. He said a shave every few days for him, his wave had laser hair removal. Now that's permanent!

I have been shaving my ass for ten years. It was very hairy and my wife mentioned it to me (many months later, obviously) it was "very hairy" after the first day I slept with her in our honeymoon suite. I had worn a silk thong and she was wearing granny panties. Since then I shave my ass with a razor and soap by going down on my hands and knees in the shower (water pointed away) opening the crack and razoring each side until it feels like a baby butt; I do the cheeks at the same time. I also do the area between my anus and balls. Then I stand up and do my balls and cxxk and leave a small thin landing strip that goes straight up towards my belly button.

The BEST thing about shaving the ass is that there is ABSOLUTELY NO smell when intimacy begins! No feces streaks on the underwear EVER. I shave every other day and it is just a normal part of showering. I urge everyone to do it - if you don't that's your choice though.

Once you feel your ass is just like a baby butt, your hooked.

UPDATE - I bought an in-home IPL laser and have been zapping the roots after a shave. No real results yet though.

The wife likes it, too, but only wants me to shave “down there” and my back. She likes the chest hair. My question is this: if you manscape, is it hard to do on your own? My wife shaved my back, but won’t shave the other regions. I’ve done it several times, but have gone to with her to a salon to get it done. It’s uncomfortable having another woman applying wax and shave, etc. I have recently found a male massage therapist who will do it. He does an okay job and I don’t have to worry about covering up like I do when the ladies do it. He’s actually quite good at it, but I would like to learn to do it myself. Is it hard to do? Thanks!
I've been manscaping in some form or fashion for about the last 25 years. The first time I shaved my pubic hair off, I couldn't believe how much better my equipment felt. Now I consider that normal and get bothered by the excessive regrowth of hair. I should probably look into getting some laser work done to help minimize the hair regrowth.

My standard method today is pretty simple. I shave my equipment up front fairly regularly and occasionally shave my ass crack, it is amazing how much easier it is to keep things clean back there with minimal hair. Then I also use electric clippers to trim back the rest of my pubic bush and the tops of my legs. I typically use a 1/4" guard on the clippers to make the hair quite short, but not remove it completely. I also take the clippers with the guard on to my arm pits to help thin out the hair up there, too.

Frankly I have a lot of body hair. It looks weird when I completely shave large sections, but then leave the rest intact or trimmed. For a while I was shaving my entire pubic region, but I decided that trimming most of that short looks better when my hairy tummy, chest, arms, and legs are taken into account. Also, I was getting frustrated that the hair on my legs seemed excessive, so I started using the clippers with a guard to trim the upper thighs down a bit. This is so much better than the sasquatch look.

So what do I actually use to accomplish the manscaping? I'm a big fan of the Gillette Mach3 razor and I have a couple inexpensive clippers. I have an old Whal clipper I picked up many years ago when I started cutting my own hair, and I have a couple of inexpensive battery operated clippers I also use as needed. The clippers all have various lengths of guards that can be put on them for adjusting how much hair is left behind.

The method I use is to shave my shaft, balls, and taint (occasionally also my ass crack) with the razor and then use one of the clippers with a guard on it to trim down my pubic hair on my lower abdomen, arm pits, and on my upper thighs.

I like the finished appearance of this because it gets rid of most all the mess that pubic hair creates. I also get a good transition from the completely shaven equipment to my hairy tummy and chest (my wife appreciates my shaved equipment, but she also loves the hairy chest and tummy). I like the fact that by trimming down the hair in my armpits it doesn't look like I'm trying to smuggle hamsters or something in my arm pits when I have my shirt off. My pierced nipples top off the appearance.

This year I started shaving my cock, balls, and ass all the way bare using a Phillips Norelco groomer. It feels amazing and so clean. I don't think I'll ever go back to a bush. I also shave my shoulders, back and pits. Im not very hairy to begin with, but I when I began wearing swim briefs I didn't like having any hair on my back. A couple years ago I did a complete body shave before a swim meet for the first time. It felt great to swim completely shaved but the prickly regrowth on my chest was awful and my wife hated it lol!

I tried a lot of different ways to remove body hair. I now use Nads for men removal cream from my knees to my neck. I shave my arms and lower legs with a norelco trimer. Once a week or before I go on road to hotels.

Hi Dr Mark,
I've been manscaping since high school, definitely a must! By manscaping i mean lower back, and from between the cheeks all the way up to the base of my shaft. I used to only shave, which is OK... but i was always searching for a better way. I contemplated laser but was turned off by the cost. Oh and it's not actually permanent despite some claims. I did lots of research lol.
So obviously one method was waxing... at first i would buy kits from the pharmacy, but they really suck. Next i found a recipe online and started making my own wax and using a cut up tshirt for the strips. This worked pretty good - much better than kits anyways and oh... essentially free which is a big perk.

I always found waxing myself a big pain in the ass. Pun not intended. Difficult to position and see down there, really messy, and never quite able to get everything. After i met my now wife, we started waxing each other which was much better. But then she recommended i try going to a salon instead, i mean why wouldn't i? Well I'm frugal and didn't want to pay 100+ dollars every month. And i wasn't sure any salons in my city offered this service for men. Well i eventually found a spot, they were fairly new and very reasonably priced.

Now i go there regularly and never have to worry or waste time with unwanted hair. And because they're pros, they do a much better job than i or my wife could do at home.

Been manscaping here since my 20's at least. I'm kind of a hairy guy. I've been sometimes self conscious of my arm hair (lol) but that was in high school/early 20s I think. I just didnt like the look of my skinny white arms with dark arm hair haha. I've accepted my body hair now I think but I still manscape. I go in stages it seems...but I regularly trim my chest with a clipper (sometimes my arms - but only trim). Sometimes its cool to let my chest hair grow a bit though. Then I turn around and shave it again lol. I trim my pubes but I usually leave a 'v' 'patch'....looks kinda cool 8-) I have given myself a 'brazilian' shave down there but not in a long time. My butt isnt that hairy but i thought of shaving it....I dont know if i really need to though. Especially if i got a tanned butt ; ) I trimmed my pits once but i think i trimmed too much and it was kind of itchy with the regrowth. I don't think I'll do that again. I like my hairy pits and legs ...so that isnt going anywhere. The 'half/half' look is cool i think...half hair/half shaved/trimmed. I see some guys that look like they have never shaved or trimmed their chest ever and it looks like they are wearing a carpet which I bet most women dont care for either but each to their own of course!

This update on shaving: I've started alternating shaving between a Bodygroom and a regular electric razor. Normally, this is not recommended. Face shavers tend to cause too many ingrown hairs. But I also found the Bodygroom, even with fresh blades, just doesn't get very close. SO, throwing caution to the wind, I tried my regular Philips electric after a shower. Worked quite well. I notice a slight increase in ingrown hairs, but I have to keep up with them with either devices, so no big deal. But the Philips electric gets me baby-ass smooth, really nice.

Also, for the last year or so I've used a rough pad in the shower that has two sides, one more abrasive, one more fluffy. The idea is, with the hot water running, exfoliate and raise the hairs for subsequent shaving. I've found this works really well. After shaving I finish with Tend Skin, which has dubious benefits to me, but at least I'm doing something.

All parts are shaved, and there's no turning back. I like the feel and look, so does the wife. She gets hers yanked, though.

I love wearing a thong or g string, and feel that this requires shaving the whole pubic area. It looks gross when hairs poke out at the sides.

I agree 100%! If you're going to wear skimpy underwear styles, then shaving or waxing is a must. I keep everything smooth down there and it feels and looks great with bikinis and thongs.
